When the global consumer electronics industry was caught in the dual dilemma of “excess computing power and lack of application scenarios”, the news that the first CEIC 2025 Consumer Electronics Innovation Conference was held in Shenzhen, China from November 6 to 8 seemed to inject a strong dose of confidence into the industry. This grand event, themed “New Electronics, New Experience, New Consumption”, not only showcased the innovative achievements of China’s consumer electronics but also marked a profound shift in the global industry’s discourse power from “concept hype” to “application implementation”.

The essence of consumer electronics is an application-oriented industry for the masses, and technological iteration divorced from real-world scenarios will ultimately become empty talk. At the CES 2025 Consumer Electronics Innovation Conference, Chinese companies stunned the audience with practical products like flying cars and glasses-free 3D devices, while the capital market validated the correctness of application-oriented approaches through the feedback of “Xpeng’s 10% surge.” The establishment of CEIC precisely responds to this trend, with its “exhibition-conference-festival” integrated model essentially building an ecosystem bridge for technology implementation—connecting StarFlash’s wireless technology with smart home scenarios, empowering smart cockpits with the HarmonyOS interconnection framework, and bringing innovation from laboratories to real-life applications.

If the application of technologies is the “visible achievement” of industrial development, then breakthroughs in core technologies are the “hidden strength” of China’s consumer electronics. For a long time, although China has remained the world’s largest producer of consumer electronics, the lack of core technologies has always been a bottleneck for development. CEIC hit the nail on the head by focusing on core technologies such as AI, connectivity, and chips as the main showcase. It not only presented cutting-edge technologies like quantum radar and 3D structured light but also promoted standard coordination through the participation of six international organizations. This “technology showcase + standard alignment” model has broken down the barriers of “proprietary standards by enterprises,” opening a channel for China’s core technologies to integrate into the global system, demonstrating its determination to transform from a “manufacturing giant” to an “innovation powerhouse.”

As the host city, Shenzhen provides a natural industrial soil for this grand event. The city boasts a complete industrial chain from chip design to terminal manufacturing, and also enjoys the ecological advantages of leading enterprises guiding and small and medium-sized enterprises innovating. Just as Las Vegas is to CES, Shenzhen’s industrial DNA and CEIC’s innovative positioning form a perfect resonance, enabling exhibitors to quickly connect resources and leveraging the geographical advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China’s innovation can radiate globally, building an industrial hub that “stands in China and connects the world”.

From “following” to “leading”, China’s consumer electronics industry needs not only product innovation but also a breakthrough in platform discourse power. The value of CEIC has long transcended a mere exhibition: it serves as a connector between technology and the market, enabling root technologies to find practical applications; it acts as a fusion of standards and ecosystems, propelling China’s solutions onto the global stage; and it functions as a resonator of innovation and life, bringing technology back to its essence of service.

As the global industry focuses on Shenzhen, we have every reason to expect that CEIC will break through with applications and establish itself with technology, writing a new chapter in defining the future of global consumer electronics in China.
